About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for a Maintenance Officer to join our team. This is a full-time, ongoing position, with an immediate start. This role is supported by the Facilities Manager on a daily basis and has two other Maintenance Officers in the team. The team environment is supportive, friendly and hardworking and there is a strong culture within the team. 

 

The responsibilities of the role are outlined below and includes keeping the school bus in good working order and sharing the driving of the bus amongst other team members between our two campuses.

  • Monitor maintenance requests and perform maintenance tasks as required, as prioritised by the Facilities Manager
  • Complete projects as required by the school leadership including renovating spaces and classrooms, building decking and seating around the campus, installing new toilets, painting upgrades to name a few.
  • Log and follow up on any maintenance issues and breakdowns that occur
  • Ensure maintenance sheds are clean and tidy at all times
  • Maintain locks and doors including cleaning and checking all cyber locks
  • Replace faulty or damaged light tubes and globes
  • Remove any debris from external lighting
  • Inspect gutters and downpipes and remove any debris
  • Repair window and insect screens
  • Repairs to furniture and equipment including chairs and desks
  • Wall and ceiling repairs
  • Internal painting when and where necessary
  • Plumbing installations, repairs and improvements

 

Bus:

  • Shared amongst the maintenance team, the Maintenance Officer will drive the bus in the morning and afternoon to transport students to and from Halls Head and Meadow Springs with the remainder of the day for maintenance work.
  • Ensure the bus is maintained in a safe and roadworthy condition by regularly checking vehicle safety such as tyres, brakes, turn signals, mechanical equipment 
  • Arrange vehicle servicing at required intervals.
  • Schedule and attend the annual safety check before registration is due.
  • Monitor and report fuel consumption, mileage, and passenger numbers.
  • Inspect the vehicle thoroughly before and after each trip and complete the checklist. 
  • Complete the vehicle log book
  • Maintain a clean vehicle – wash and ensure in clean order.
  • Set up and clear away of special school functions and moving of furniture and equipment as required
