Teacher of Health and Physical Education – Senior School

Full-time, 6 month fixed-term contract

Commencing Term 1 2026

Hale School is Western Australia's oldest independent boys' school. Located in the suburb of Wembley Downs, the current campus is situated on a magnificent 48 hectare site, approximately 13 kilometres to the north-west of Perth and two kilometres from the coast.

Hale School is seeking applications from enthusiastic and dynamic professionals for the position of a Health and Physical Education Teacher – Senior School for Semester 1 2026. This position is a full time, six-month fixed term contract, commencing Term 1 2026.

The successful applicant will:

  • have experience in teaching Health and Physical Education at secondary level.

  • have experience teaching ATAR Physical Education Studies.

  • be able to teach Year 7 – 10 Health and Physical Education and be familiar with the Western Australian Health and Physical Education curriculum.

  • have the ability to communicate effectively.

  • demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching practice.

  • use technology appropriately in the classroom.

  • confidently carry out practical sporting demonstrations for students in the physical education setting.

  • have a strong background in teaching and/or coaching swimming.

  • have the ability to work as a member of a team and to have effective working relationships with both students and staff.

  • be committed to the provision of a supportive environment aimed at building self-confidence and enhancing learning outcomes for all students.

  • have an understanding of, and empathy for the academic, social, spiritual and emotional development of boys.

  • have a firm commitment to independent schooling and be in sympathy with the School’s values and its Anglican traditions.

  • be involved in the broader co-curricular programme of the School.

  • be eligible to teach within Western Australia. This will involve associated Police Clearances, registration with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia (TRBWA) and current Working With Children Check (WWCC).

  • hold a current Bronze Medallion Qualification.

  • hold a current Senior First Aid Certificate.

  • Submit a CV which includes your philosophy of teaching and learning, and which also includes the names and contact numbers of three referees, one of whom must be a current employer.
