Full-time Teacher Positions Available:

Child Side K-10 Independent School established 2003 and located in Boyanup (20 minutes from Bunbury) in the South West region, is seeking two new teachers to work in full-time positions alongside our current long-term, highly experienced teachers. Our 'small by design' school has a core, stable group of long term, active staff and families who are aligned with our highly researched and highly successful design, structure and pedagogy which has proven long term value for children, families and society. We are seeking teachers who are seeking to contribute towards making a real difference working collegially within our whole school structures and design. 

We recommend that any interested teachers look at our website and then book a Walk and Talk tour with us, as we find that prospective teachers need to see, hear and feel our distinctive teaching and learning physical, temporal (shape of day integrated curriculum design) and collegial cultural environments in person. In practice, we are more (richer, deeper and broader) than our website or any written or spoken communication. 

We will then have a conversation with you and leave you with some Child Side specific documents to help you process our teaching and learning intentions, implementation and impact. After this you will be able to discern for yourself whether your professional teaching and learning philosophy and capacity are aligned with our ways of working. 

We use the WA Curriculum K-10 outline and the Early Years Learning Framework, but it is how we teach and learn at Child Side which is purposefully ‘different by design’. This will make more sense after a Walk and Talk tour. 

We use the sustainable development principle of 5 ways of working which encompasses:

  1. Long term
  2. Prevention
  3. Integration
  4. Collaboration  
  5. Involvement ( which we use as our educational strategy of 3-way participation across staff, our Governing Council, Our families and of course with the children. See below)

3-way participation covers involvement across curriculum design and delivery, assessment and evaluation, staffing arrangements and resourcing. Nothing is siloed at our School.

  1. ‘Minds-on” participation- Academic, Knowledge and Thinking Competencies
  2. “Hands-On” participation- Technical, Practical, Thinking, Ethical and Protective Behaviour Competencies  
  3. “Interactions-with” participation- Communication, Social and Relationships, Thinking, Ethical and Protective Behaviour Competencies  

We are looking for teachers who have the capacity as adaptive life-long learners to participate (in 3-ways) in our teaching and learning design and collegial culture. We offer high, long -term levels of mentoring by other MEO (More Experienced Others) and MKO (More Knowledgeable Others) staff and every teacher works with other staff members collegially and collaboratively. We are a ‘small by design’ cohesive and collegial staff. We value reliability and a growth mindset. You will learn and teach through our highly researched and successful 3-way participation educational strategy, alongside our highly experienced teachers. Our collegiate design enables teachers to both learn and teach and children to learn then teach others. Child Side students demonstrate a strong capacity to use highly desirable competencies for further study, employment and navigating life beyond school. 

If you find that you are aligned and have the capacity and professional interest in the long-term, full-time position after a Walk and Talk tour, we will offer you a ‘long interview’ of 2 days paid ‘relief’ to ‘shadow’ MEO teachers as they work. This enables the school to get to know you beyond any resumes, references and face-to-face interview, before any further processes or decisions are made. This recruitment process will occur as early as possible during term 4 2025.
