Early Childhood Consultant (0.8 FTE)

AISWA is seeking the services of a talented Early Childhood leader with a strong familiarity with the Early Years Learning Framework and contemporary, innovative early childhood pedagogies. The Early Childhood Consultant will work collaboratively with other members of the Early Childhood team and other AISWA staff.
 
The position has a negotiable commencement time (from February 2022) and is funded until 31 December 2022, with the possibility of extension beyond this period depending on the continuation of funding.
 
It is expected that the successful applicant will have recent teaching and/or leadership experience in Early Childhood Education. 
 
AISWA Consultants typically have a wealth of expertise in teaching and learning and develop a large range of contacts and networks. They are expected to source, organise and deliver professional learning to schools to address areas of need; and as informed by State and National priorities. 
 
This position has an emphasis on ensuring a successful transition to school to lead to increased participation, attendance, and engagement for the child. 
 
This role includes a particular focus on supporting early childhood educators in remote Indigenous schools. The position does involve travel to remote Indigenous communities. This will form 0.4 FTE of the role. The additional 0.4 FTE will be focused on providing early childhood consultancy to metro and regional Independent Schools. 
 
Consideration can be given to splitting the two elements of this position into separate positions.
 
As a part of supporting schools, AISWA Consultants work with teachers from a range of backgrounds, experiences, and philosophies. The ability to easily form positive working relationships with groups across different backgrounds is essential.
 
Selection Criteria:
  • Sound understanding of contemporary and innovative teaching, learning and assessment pedagogies in the context of the Western Australian Curriculum and the Early Years Learning Framework, 
  • Experience and knowledge in Early childhood education and development,
  • Demonstrated ability to develop relationships with families and communities,
  • Ability to develop and deliver professional learning,
  • A familiarity with the 3a - Abecedarian Approach (further training will be provided),
  • Commitment to Indigenous education, 
  • High level of organisational skills,
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team and independently, 
  • An understanding of the West Australian Independent School sector, and the wider education community.
Essential Requirements:
  • Tertiary Qualifications in Early Childhood Education or similar discipline
  • Working with Children Check
  • Current WA Drivers Licence
  • IT skills compatible with supporting educators online
  • TRBWA Registration
