Director of Music
An ongoing, full-time position commencing Term 1 2024
Hale School is Western Australia's oldest independent boys' school. Located in the suburb of Wembley Downs, the current campus is situated on a magnificent 48-hectare site, approximately 13 kilometres to the north-west of Perth and two kilometres from the coast.
Hale School is seeking applications from dynamic, enthusiastic, experienced and well-qualified music educators to fill this significant leadership position. The Director of Music performs his/her duties under the general direction of the Headmaster.
The Director of Music is a significant role in the School, providing effective leadership of the Music School and with responsibility for all Music programmes from Years 1 to 12.
The successful applicant will demonstrate:
- exemplary teaching of Music, with experience of, or capacity for, teaching up to the level of Year 12 ATAR Music
- high level skill as a musician
- the capacity to lead and motivate others
- the ability to communicate effectively
- the ability to relate well to Junior and Senior School students, staff and parents
- a strong work ethic
- knowledge of, and interest in, developments in the teaching and learning of Music
- proven ability to effectively lead classroom and co-curricular music programmes
- proven ability to work as a member of a team
- an understanding of, and empathy for, the learning needs and social, emotional and spiritual development of boys
- a firm commitment to independent schooling and a willingness to support the School’s values and Anglican traditions.
Applicants must have:
- current registration as a teacher with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia, or be eligible for registration
- a current Working with Children (WWC) check.
