Golden Hill Steiner School provides a wonderful place for children to shine. We are set in the beautiful small coastal town of Denmark in the south west of WA, adjacent to spectacular national parks which incorporate surf beaches and karri forest.
Established over 25 years ago, Golden Hill Steiner School has grown to offer Playgroup, Kindergarten and Primary school currently with 127 enrolments. Our School is a full member of Steiner Education Australia. The schools dedicated teaching team provides a full Steiner Curriculum including music gardening and woodwork. Our classrooms are beautifully crafted from natural materials and sent on a large block bordered by native bushland.

The bursar reports to the Governance Leadership and Management Team (GLaM) and is a key member of the Governing Boards finance committee. The Bursar will be required to exercise excellent financial judgement and have the ability to communicate clearly and meaningfully with the Governing Board and community.

Duties and responsibilities:
As the Bursar your duties include but are not limited to:

Upholding the aims and objectives of the School, and working cooperatively with the GLaM team and Finance Committee / Principal to achieve these objectives

Reporting directly to the GLaM team and Finance Committee on all matters

Developing and maintaining effective communication and sound relationships with students, parents, and the wider community

Full responsibility for the processing of Payroll, remaining conversant with all relevant awards, agreements and entitlements

Liaising directly with the Board Member responsible for finance and preparing and presenting all financial reports to the School Board

Distributing monthly financial reports to the Board

Preparing periodic BAS Statements

Preparing the Commonwealths Financial Questionnaires

Maintaining the Schools Assets Register

Liaising with relevant associations such as AISWA, DEEWR, and DES, as required

Maintaining and controlling all documentation and other requirements regarding insurance matters

Promote a positive working environment for all employees and not condone discrimination or harassment of any description and

Being actively involved with professional education organisations and the wider community

Education and Qualifications:

You will have a minimum of 5 years experience in a similar financial support role with specific experience in educational support being an advantage.
A formal accounting qualification
Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and MYOB.
