Kerry Street Community School is a small, vibrant independent school in Hamilton Hill, Western Australia. With over 40 years of history, we are known for our child-centred approach, inclusive community, and strong commitment to sustainability, social justice, and authentic relationships. 

The Kerry Street Community School Board is responsible for the governance of the school. As a not-for-profit independent school, the Board plays a crucial role in overseeing the school’s strategic direction, regulatory compliance, financial health, and long-term sustainability. The Board is made up of parents and community members who work closely with the Principal and staff to ensure the school continues to thrive. 

 We are currently seeking a Board Administration Assistant to support our School Board with administration, document management, and meeting logistics. This is a flexible position for up to 80 hours per term, suited to someone who is proactive, highly organised, and values clear systems and process. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Provide administrative and secretarial support to the School Board. 

  • Prepare meeting agendas and distribute documentation via Microsoft Teams. 

  • Attend and minute monthly Board meetings (evenings during term). 

  • Track and manage the Board’s agenda cycle, task lists, and policy review schedule. 

  • Support the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Board self-review process. 

  • Maintain records such as the Board Charter, Annual Plan, Risk Register, and policy documents. 

  • Assist with onboarding of new Board members and governance reporting requirements (e.g., DOE and ACNC updates). 

  • Create simple promotional materials for Board events. 

 

Who You Are 

  • Experienced in administration, highly organised, and confident managing documents independently. 

  • Comfortable with Microsoft 365 (especially Teams, Word, Excel). 

  • Available to attend evening Board meetings (two per school term). 

  • A clear communicator with strong attention to detail. 

  • Able to maintain confidentiality and uphold governance standards. 

  • You love systems, process, and helping a passionate community thrive. 

 

Requirements 

Essential: 

  • Experience in an administrative or secretarial role.  

  • Working With Children Check and Police Clearance. 

 

Desirable: 

  • Experience in not-for-profit or school governance. 

  • Experience publishing or formatting simple documents.
