Description

An opportunity for teachers of Year 11 & 12 EAL/D General and ATAR courses to collaborate with colleagues to design and share teaching resources. This workshop is open to teachers from all sectors.

This half-day workshop will run from 8.30am until 12.30pm. Facilitated by AISWA  Language Consultant, Kate Reitzenstein, this professional learning event will also include:

  • Reflections on the 2019 EAL/D ATAR examinations and General and Foundation EST trends by Louise Dodman, SCSA Principal Consultant (EAL/D)
  • A collaborative workshop to create reading & viewing stimulus materials and response tasks 
  • Opportunities to seek out and share teaching and learning resources
  • Information about, and opportunities to join EAL/D professional learning networks

Morning tea will be provided.

Participants can opt to stay from 12.30pm - 3.30pm to collaborate further with their small group moderation partners or work independently. Please provide your own lunch.

Teaching And Learning Consultant - Languages

Kate Reitzenstein <span>(AISWA Staff)</span>

Kate Reitzenstein has worked as Consultant for Languages of the Association of Independent Schools of WA since 2014. She organises professional development activities and provides advice to schools and teachers on policy, curriculum and resources. Prior to this role, Kate worked as an Indonesian language teacher for fifteen years at three secondary schools, with experience using the Curriculum Framework and the Middle Years Program and Diploma Program of the International Baccalaureate curriculum. She has worked as an EFL/ESL teacher in Australia and abroad, and has had experience as an International Student Coordinator and at establishing overseas school partnerships and in-country study tours. Kate places importance on effective language teaching methodology and the need to link theory to practice in the Languages classroom.
