Description

"One of the criticisms I’ve faced over the years is that I’m not aggressive enough or assertive enough or maybe somehow, because I’m empathetic, it means I’m weak. I totally rebel against that. I refuse to believe that you cannot be both compassionate and strong.”

Jacinda Ardern (Former Prime Minister of New Zealand)

The afternoon network meetings are for anyone interested in gender equality and the role of women in leadership roles across varying industries. Each event will be tailored to a specific theme with a guest speaker and/or 2-3 panelists to share their stories.

Once finalised, the 2024 Program topics will be published.

Please noteThere is an annual fee registration fee of $150.00 for becoming a member of this network. This fee covers participation in all scheduled events held throughout the year.

Meika Pfeiffer-Gough (AISWA Staff)

Meika Pfeiffer-Gough is a School Leadership and Teaching Quality Consultant, a new role for 2022. Meika has gained her experience and knowledge whilst working across a variety of educational settings in the PK-12 environment, during her 17 years as a teacher and leader. She has always been a firm advocate for empowering staff and students to develop growth mindsets and is passionate in her belief that strong, positive, and supportive teacher-student relationships, are fundamental to improving teaching and learning outcomes in schools.

Leanne Russel

Leanne Russel

Dr. Leanne Russell is an educational leader with a passion for effective teaching, positive student relationships, and leadership development. Her extensive teaching experience spans both public and private sectors, including rural and urban schools. Leanne has held various leadership positions, such as Instep Coordinator, Leading Literacy Teacher, Head of Subschool, Head of Year, and Head of Department.

Her areas of expertise encompass curriculum development, student well-being, and educational leadership. Leanne’s journey took her to Mauritius, where she spent five years training staff and running an international IT business. Her love for animal welfare led her to relocate with a menagerie of (all female) dogs and cats back to Australia. She said her husband felt very much out-numbered.

Returning to Perth alongside her business partner (now husband), Leanne seized the opportunity to pursue her MBA and later a Doctorate in Business Administration from Curtin University. Her research focused on leadership and gender, a topic she explored while working full-time at her current school, St. Hilda’s.

Leanne is committed to fostering positive learning environments, empowering both students and educators. She is particularly passionate about supporting women of all ages to realize their potential. Her dedication extends to helping early-career female teachers achieve their dreams of school leadership positions.
