Description

This Term 4 meeting is an opportunity for AISWA Primary Curriculum Leaders in the North Metropolitan area to meet and discuss teaching and learning matters in a collegiate forum. 

The purpose of this network meeting is to:

  • Identify and discuss any recent Curriculum Updates 
  • review and share aspects of our school Assessment Policies, ahead of Term 4 Reporting
  • hear a presentation from our host school (St Mary's AGS) about their 'Creative Schools' program and other Junior School special projects.
  • invite primary leaders to stay connected via the APLN Closed Facebook Group - please request to join AISWA Primary Leaders Network

Maree Whiteley <span>(AISWA Staff)</span>

Maree Whiteley works with teachers and curriculum leaders to bring innovative and practical pedagogies into the classroom, through special projects and whole-school planning. Currently working as an AISWA Consultant in the Primary Teaching and Learning area, with specific expertise within the Humanities and Social Sciences Learning Area, this gives Maree the perfect platform to go beyond the curriculum, exploring areas of global imperatives for our young people, such as ethical and humanitarian issues, critical thinking and cultural competence. Maree continues to enjoy sharing her experience, knowledge and expertise with others in workshops, conferences and in online forums.

Geraldine Drabble

Geraldine  Drabble

Geraldine Drabble, the current Deputy Head of Junior School – Curriculum at St Mary’s Anglican Girls’ School and has been a passionate primary school educator for the past 30 years.  Geraldine has taught all year levels from Kindergarten to Year 7 in government and independent schools both in city and rural settings. Geraldine believes that creativity is a group of skills needed when students are working through ideas that are both original and valuable. At St Mary’s Geraldine enjoys working alongside staff and students to develop their learning passions. She understands that a safe environment is required to explore creativity in all areas of learning and encourages teachers to approach units of inquiry as problem-solving activities with a growth mindset and take (sensible) risks to engage their students.

Deborah Scanlon

Deborah Scanlon

Deborah Scanlon is currently an Early Years Teacher at St Mary’s Anglican Girls’ School. For over 30 years she has been passionate in various Early Years teaching roles. She was selected by The Department of Education to develop and implement and the K-Track Assessment Tool for Kindergarten Teachers. This expertise was enhanced via the Teaching and Learning Early Years’ Facilitator Training Course, which was then shared with colleagues around the Early Years Learning Framework. Deb has devoted much professional learning to the mathematics subject area and runs a very popular co-curricular Lego and Engineering Club.

Mel Crispin

Mel Crispin

As a Year 2 teacher at St Mary’s Anglican Girls’ School, Mel Crispin loves working in an environment that fosters a love of learning, creativity and a respect that every child has a right to learn. Mel has been teaching for 20 years with only a short break to have her beautiful daughter, who is now 6 years old.  She sees teaching as a job that brings new and exciting challenges daily. Mel considers it a privilege to be able to travel on the learning journey with her students and colleagues, as the world of education is constantly changing.
