Description

An information session for school leaders and language teachers on ways to promote language learning through a whole school approach.

Developing an awareness of the benefits of learning additional languages can indeed be a challenge in our predominantly monolingual society. A common reaction is to promote the study of an individual language for its economic and career benefits to increase enrollments. Discussion during this session will argue for a broader and planned approach to promoting the learning of languages that impacts students, parents and the wider community.

The aim of the session:

  • Discuss current trends and emerging attitudes towards multilingualism in schools and the wider community
  • Dissemination of information about the benefits of language learning
  • Goal setting for a whole school approach to promoting Languages

We encourage language teachers and school leaders to attend this session together.
