Description
The workshop will take participants through a backward design planning process that begins with goal setting utilising the achievement standards and content descriptions. The focus is on embedding explicit assessment practices throughout the unit of work so that informed decisions about progress and achievement can be made with authentic assessment data. The context will be English and literacy but the workshop outcome of improved programming skills will be applicable to any learning area planning.
Please note: schools are encouraged and invited to contact AISWA to have this workshop take place in their school.

Di Edwards (AISWA Staff)
Literacy Consultant

Di Edwards works in the areas of English, Literature and English as a Second Language. She has worked in mainstream schools, both government and private and as a classroom teacher. She has a passion for improving the educational outcomes of students who struggle for a variety of academic, social and emotional reasons.
Di has been employed at The Association of Independent Schools of WA as a literacy consultant since 2008. In this role, she has led and been involved with many exciting and rewarding professional learning opportunities for teachers, in particular, with teachers of adolescents.
Christopher Witt (AISWA Staff)
Consultant | Animal Ethics

Christopher Witt joined AISWA in 2009. Prior to that he was a Consultant at STEPS Professional Development as well as a curriculum advisor following 25 years of classroom teaching. After working at AISWA for 15 years as a Literacy Consultant, Chris has moved into the area of animal ethics providing support for teachers and schools, particularly in the use of animals for scientific purposes and related legislative requirements.
