Description
Designed as a comprehensive professional learning opportunity that spans 6 months (Feb-August 2024), participants will unpack core elements and effective practices to intentionally cultivate early literacy in Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten. This PL includes completion of the Playful Literacy online course, designed by Lisa Burman, South Australian education consultant. This course encompasses many vital aspects of early literacy practice such as symbolic play, oral language, early writing and planning for success. In addition, a full day face-to-face workshop with Lisa is included in July, which focuses on building strong reading identities in early childhood.
The five online modules are completed at a time that suits you, typically taking around 1.5-2 hours each, but these do not need to be completed in one sitting. Reflective activities that directly support your classroom practice follow each module, with participants then gathering via Zoom webinar to discuss their observations and to share ideas with one another. To support you between sessions, an online forum and opportunities for personal mentoring by AISWA consultants are available.
This professional learning opportunity has been heavily subsided by AISWA and requires a commitment to complete the PL. Educators who register will be provided with a set of Agreed Conditions for signing ASAP.
