Description
The course gives Safety and Health Representatives, and those who support their school's safety and health policies and procedures, the knowledge and skills they need to represent their fellow employees and ensure their workplace is adhering to legislative health and safety requirements.
This course is designed for elected workplace Safety & Health Representatives who play a crucial role in improving safety and health in schools, but is also excellent training for anyone interested in supporting their school’s work place safety and health policies and procedures. The course gives participants the knowledge and skills they need to represent their fellow employees and ensure their workplace is adhering to legislative health and safety requirements.
Topics to be covered:
- Conduct an effective inspection of your workplaces
- Identify and locate information from a variety of sources
- Communicate on safety and health matters and represent employees
- Describe the functions, make up and roles of a Safety and Health committee
- Conduct an effective investigation into workplace illness/injuries and accidents
- Apply knowledge of legislation in the role of a Safety and Health Representative
- Identify and evaluate hazards in the workplace and recommend control methods
