Description

Microsoft Minecraft: Education Edition is an open world game that promotes creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving in an immersive environment where the only limit is imagination.  Game design in MEE now includes CODE BUILDER so it supports the teaching of Digital Technologies, as well as Design and Technologies, Engineering (building), Science, HASS, literacy and numeracy. The resources available to support MEE are extensive.

During this full-day Teacher Academy, you will:
• Learn about MEE, its place for teaching both Digital and Design Technologies, and unique features suited for teaching & learning with immersive games in other areas of the curriculum to include other areas of STeaM
• Become a MEE player. Learn the controls, crafting and game features necessary to gain confidence, understand pedagogical benefits and reduce anxiety about using game-based learning with students.
• Learn strategies, tips and tricks to integrate MEE into your classroom topics and activities. -Learn about what’s worked for educators successfully teaching with MEE, along with resources you can take back to your own classroom.
• Take a learner’s role and walk through a learning experience featuring MEE. Then, move through examples traversing grades and subject areas, demonstrating the global applicability of MEE in schools.

The content will be suitable for teachers who use Windows, OSX and iOS devices with students.
Participants earn a MS Badge for completing this PL.

Attendees will need to install the appropriate MEE app on their devices (see MEE website below). It is free. Access to a demonstration classroom is provided in the workshop.
