This online session provides Early Childhood second language teachers the opportunity to connect virtually with other AISWA colleagues.

This online session provides Early Childhood second language teachers the opportunity to connect virtually with other AISWA colleagues. 

Agenda includes:

  • Establishment of a formal network group and process for resource sharing
  • Tips for facilitating engagement in play-based learning and further professional learning opportunities at AISWA in the area of Early Childhood Education (guest speaker Fiona Shand, Early Childhood Consultant)
  • Discuss future needs and plan more network meetings for 2020 (blend of online and face-to-face)

Registrations are essential so that PL hours can be logged.

Kate Reitzenstein <span>(AISWA Staff)</span>

Kate Reitzenstein has worked as Consultant for Languages of the Association of Independent Schools of WA since 2014. She organises professional development activities and provides advice to schools and teachers on policy, curriculum and resources. Prior to this role, Kate worked as an Indonesian language teacher for fifteen years at three secondary schools, with experience using the Curriculum Framework and the Middle Years Program and Diploma Program of the International Baccalaureate curriculum. She has worked as an EFL/ESL teacher in Australia and abroad, and has had experience as an International Student Coordinator and at establishing overseas school partnerships and in-country study tours. Kate places importance on effective language teaching methodology and the need to link theory to practice in the Languages classroom.

Fiona Shand (AISWA Staff)

Early Childhood Consultant

Fiona Shand <span>(AISWA Staff)</span>

Fiona has recently joined AISWA and is looking forward to sharing her passion for the early years with teachers and schools. She has over 25 years experience both in the classroom and in leadership roles. Fiona has completed training in Positive Education and strongly believes in the importance of the development of the whole child, providing students with the social, emotional and cognitive skills to help them flourish and develop as life long learners.
