Description

The aims of this day are:

· to clarify requirements for curriculum, assessment and reporting for MYP and PYP schools in WA

· to provide an opportunity for teachers and coordinators of IB schools in WA to meet

· to provide support on specific aspects of programme implementation in response to schools’ requests

The day has been divided, with the morning dedicated exclusively to MYP and the afternoon focussing entirely on PYP, you can register for one or both sessions.

MYP Focus 8.30-11.30

8.30-9.30 - Curriculum, assessment & reporting for MYP schools in WA. Please ensure you can access the recognition document for WA during this session. It is a long document and therefore hard copies will not be made available. Documents submitted for MYP recognition in WA can be downloaded from Basecamp.

Presenters

Dr Marcia Behrenbruch

Dr Marcia Behrenbruch

Marcia Behrenbruch has over 35 years of education experience in Canada, The Netherlands, Australia, Vietnam and Singapore. She has a Bachelor of Science (Hons) from University of British Columbia, a Masters (Ed) from Monash university and doctorate from Melbourne Graduate School of Education. In the last 7 years of working with the IB, Marcia has mapped the PYP and MYP against Canadian provincial standards, US state standards, Chinese national curriculum, Australian Curriculum and the WA curriculum. Her responsibilities with the IB included head of professional development and head of school services in Singapore, and since 2015, IB regional manager for Australasia.

Joanna Cardinal

Joanna Cardinal

Joanna trained in the UK where she worked for several years as a teacher of French, Spanish, Italian, Russian and ESOL before joining an international school in the Asia Pacific region.

She has taught in primary, secondary, state and independent schools in the UK, Papua New Guinea, France and Australia. As well as teaching, Joanna has been an examiner (IGCSE & RSA) and a Senior Education Officer with the Curriculum Strategy Branch, Education Queensland.

In July 2013, she achieved certification as a trainer of ‘Lynn Erickson Concept-Based Curriculum & Instruction’.

Prior to joining the IB full-time, she was a Senior Reviewer for the Building Quality Curriculum Project and participated in the IB Educators’ Network as a workshop leader, school consultant and school visit team leader.
