Description

HASS PBL planning

Connection, Collaboration and Community  - interdisciplinary thinking and meaningful Learning Design.
Are you still planning in isolation? Do you want to engage your students with issues that matter (to them), give them a voice, co-design meaningful learning with your colleagues AND tick multiple curriculum boxes?

This full-day workshop provides all the tools required to start your Project-based Learning (PBL) journey within your school, starting with real-world issues and challenges in your local area. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), several General Capabilities and the content from the HASS and Science curricula, will be the starting point for your impactful Learning Design.

As we will focus on your 2024 planning, it is highly recommended that you attend this workshop with at least 2 or 3 colleagues from across different Learning Areas and Year levels (an interdisciplinary teaching team) to gain the full impact of a collaborative approach, hence modelling how we want our students to learn and the capabilities that employers are now seeking in the workplace.

Using AISWA online publications, such as Life on Land, Life below Water: Why it Matters (2022), Global Competencies in action (2021), and Taking Action: students as Global Citizens (2016), to demonstrate the PBL process, participants will draw inspiration from the various case studies provided, see several models of Learning Design based on the PISA Global Competencies and learn how to use purposeful pedagogies in your classroom and go beyond the curriculum dot points.

Upon request, ongoing support can be provided to participants, including a follow-up school-based workshop for whole-school planning.

This workshop also provides an excellent introduction to the 2024 AISWA Purposeful Pedagogies Professional Learning program, which will commence in Term 2.

Join us for a thought-provoking day of reflection, strategic thinking, collaboration and sharing, to connect with like-minded colleagues to learn and grow.

Morning tea, lunch and planning resources included.
