Description
This Showcase day is a celebration of Purposeful Pedagogies and authentic tasks, based around current social issues and Global Competencies in action.
Globally competent Educators and Students in the 21st Century have the knowledge and skills to:
- Investigate the World
- Recognise Perspectives
- Communicate Ideas
- Take Action
Inspired by the work of David Price (PBL), Kath Murdoch (Inquiry-based Learning), Ron Ritchhart (Visible Thinking), Guy Claxton and Becky Carlzon (Learning Power Approach) and a Design Thinking, Student Agency workshop with Summer Howarth, participants from several WA schools will share purposeful teaching and learning outcomes via their individual PBL projects, which are the result of the 6-month AISWA Professional Learning program, Purposeful Pedagogies.
Here's what to expect:
- Teachers and Students from Year 2 to Year 10 will co-present an exhibition of their learning, via a static display, a short film festival and a 'soapbox' pitch presentation.
- You will receive a detailed program outlining each project, including the Design Thinking process used, a Project-based Learning framework, and relevant links to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the WA Curriculum.
- This Exhibition of Learning will also provide valuable feedback to project participants to reflect upon their own learning using a Critique framework, the Critical and Creative Thinking continuum and AITSL Reflection tools
Includes detailed teacher resource material from each school, interaction with students about their learning, and participation in the PBL critique process.
Refreshments are available for purchase throughout the morning from the cafe, located on the ground floor, adjacent to the State Library theatre and foyer area.
