Description

Suitability:  These workshops are available for professionals and para professionals from AISWA, CEWA and Department of Education, as well as other agency and non-Government organisations working with young people at risk of suicidal behaviour and non-suicidal self-injury. These workshops are suitable for workers who may be required to discuss suicide risk in their interactions with young people. Participants themselves are encouraged to consider the suitability of the course content and the potential personal impact on themselves before registering.

  • Gain an understanding of the problem of suicide
  • Identify suicide risk
  • Provide a framework for risk assessment and intervention
  • Develop appropriate intervention skills
  • Understand the limits to confidentiality
  • Understand the importance of consultation
  • Gain an understanding of self-harming behavior
  • Gain an understanding of the link between mental disorders and suicidal behaviors

Dana De Bunnetat <span>(AISWA Staff)</span>

Dana is a registered psychologist who has worked within a diverse range of schools for over a decade. Starting with AISWA in 2015, Dana is passionate about working with schools in metro, rural and remote settings. Over her experience working within the education context, she enjoys addressing social, emotional, behavioural and learning needs in a collaborative way with students, families and school staff. Her professional interests include neurodiversity (ADHD, Autism, SLD),  trauma, parenting, and mental health and wellbeing within education.  Dana is an accredited facilitator in Gatekeeper Suicide Prevention, Youth Mental Health First Aid and Triple P parenting programs.

Michele is a registered psychologist with extensive experience working in the education sector.  She has held positions in both public and private schools across metropolitan and regional locations.  Michele joined AISWA in 2023 where she is enjoying the variety and vibrancy that independent schools offer – no two days are the same.  Michele values and appreciates the reach that a school psychologist can have; she brings warmth, wisdom, and a practical approach to her work.
