EDMed® is a professional development service provided by the Ronald McDonald Learning Program (RMLP). The RMLP is a national programme which assists school age children with serious illness and injury to catch up on their learning. EDMed® recognises that planning for the return, or enrolling a student who has suffered a serious physical illness or injury can present challenges for teaching staff. We discuss how chronic medical and mental health challenges can impact a child’s education, and share strategies that can help to better cater for children with complex health needs by addressing their physical, social, emotional and academic wellbeing. All attendees will receive a resource book and certificate of participation for their professional learning records. This session is targeted for classroom and specialist teachers, education assistants and support staff.
