Description

This hands-on workshop introduces a practical and easy-to-use framework for developing AI literacy in schools, aligned with the Western Australian Curriculum. Tailored for educators who are leading staff capability building in AI or looking to embed AI literacy within their teaching practice, the session showcases how the framework can be integrated into existing programs using familiar language, concepts, and approaches. Throughout the workshop, participants will take part in activities that deepen their own understanding of key AI concepts while building the confidence to support colleagues and students in developing these essential skills. By the end of the session, educators will be better equipped to embed AI literacy across learning areas, enhance staff capability, and create meaningful opportunities for students to engage with AI in authentic and age-appropriate ways.

Outcomes

  • Develop an understanding of the key concepts and components of AI literacy.
  • Explore the ethical and educational implications of AI in teaching and learning.
  • Apply the AI literacy framework to identify opportunities for curriculum integration across learning areas.
  • Strengthen their confidence in supporting staff and students to engage critically and creatively with AI tools.
  • Collaborate with peers to design or adapt learning experiences that foster AI literacy in their school context.
