AISWA invites Heads of English and Teachers of English to an exclusive round table event featuring internationally renowned author, academic, and literary critic Merve Emre. Currently a Professor of English at the University of Oxford and a contributing writer at The New Yorker, Merve Emre is celebrated for her brilliant insights into literature, criticism, and the art of reading. Her acclaimed works include The Personality Brokers, a history of the Myers-Briggs personality test, and The Annotated Mrs. Dalloway. Emre’s writing blends rigorous scholarship with cultural critique, offering English educators rich, provocative perspectives on literature and identity in the classroom. This rare opportunity to engage with one of the leading voices in contemporary literary discourse will include discussion, Q&A, and collegial exchange. Outcomes
This session will provide participants the opportunity to engage with an international author and gather insights on the role of literature and how it can shape student identity and engagement in learning and enrich cultural understandings. Participants will be able to ask targeted questions and generate ideas for engaging students in literacy context.
