A whole day workshop providing teachers with the opportunity to explore a range of digital technologies that are suited to second language learning.

This whole-day workshop will provide language teachers with the opportunity to explore a range of apps and platforms for communicating and creating digital media in the target language. Aimed at teachers with beginner and intermediate skills using digital technologies, participants will become familiar with simple and preferably free/low cost apps that are ideal for language learning through  structured tasks. There will be a focus on and active use of iPad apps, however users of other devices will still gain ideas for teaching.

At the end, participants will collaborate to complete a culminating task/project that involves using all the content produced during the day. Participants will be provided with an iPad loaded with all the apps that will be used in the workshop, for use during the day. However, they should also bring their own personal/work iPad or alternative technology, as well as, a set of head phones to the workshop.

This workshop has been offered in previous years at AISWA. Here is what past participants had to say:

"Great opportunity to have time to sit down and 'play' with the various language apps. And time to talk and collaborate with fellow language teachers."

"I found the sharing session excellent as it demonstrated the first app in a real situation. Then the introduction to the other apps, with time to explore them, was very useful. I thoroughly enjoyed the collaboration in the last task and learnt a lot about making films in a short time frame. It was a very worthwhile PL."

"Great fun and an excellent way to network with colleagues while learning something useful."
