Kim McHugh has a wide range of education experiences K-12. Originally from NSW where she taught in high schools and then became a writer for the School of Isolated and Distance Education, she has spent the last 20 years here in Western Australia involved in primary mathematics in positions ranging from classroom teacher Getting it Right Numeracy Specialist Teacher, District Curriculum Officer, Deputy Principal and a consultant for STEPS Professional Development. She joined AISWA in 2012 as part of the Aboriginal Independent Community Schools (AICS) team of consultants. Her responsibility this year is to continue to provide professional learning and in-school support to Principals and teachers for the 13 AIC schools.

Kerry Handley (AISWA Staff)

Literacy Consultant

Kerry Handley <span>(AISWA Staff)</span>

Kerry Handley is a Literacy Consultant with many years of experience. She has worked in the WA education system as a classroom teacher, K-7 district coordinator and a consultant. Before joining AISWA, in 2012, Kerry was part of the team that reconceptualised and wrote the First Steps 2nd Edition resource and associated professional development. In this role she presented to educators around the world and spent four years living in the USA. She is one of the presenters of the Sharp Reading program and has a particular interest in assisting teachers in remote aboriginal schools.

Kerry has a Masters of Education, a Graduate Diploma in Intercultural Studies and a Diploma of Teaching. She is passionate about helping improve literacy outcomes for all students.

Kate Stannard (AISWA Staff)

Inclusive Education Consultant

Kate Stannard <span>(AISWA Staff)</span>

Kate Stannard joined the Inclusive Education team at AISWA in February 2017. She studied to be a Primary teacher in London, teaching there for a number of years before moving to Perth in 2005. Through her time in the classroom, Kate has developed a passion to see all students actively engaged with their own learning. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Education and English Literature, a Graduate Diploma in Educational Leadership and a Masters of Education (Special Learning Needs).
