Description

Adolescent Engagement through Literacy is an online course designed to give teachers a repertoire of open-ended classroom activities that maximise student engagement. These activities have been designed to support struggling students and also extend high achieving students. They also scaffold the learning for EALD students.

The course is a mix of synchronous and asynchronous learning, that is, short sessions where participants come together online, in addition to set tasks where people work at their own rate in their own time. The four synchronous sessions reflect the 4 topics of:
1.  Engaging, open-ended tasks
2.  Assessment 4 Learning
3.  Scaffolding Writing
4.  More open-ended tasks
Participants will be shown teaching strategies that they will be able to implement immediately into their teaching, learning and assessing program. This will include literacy activities that give more responsibility to the students in a more social and interactive way that raises the level of engagement. These teaching tools cover a range of oral language, reading, writing and also assessment approaches. Implementing these strategies will add rigour to your teaching as well as making it fun and energising for your students.

Once registered, participants will be contacted and receive information about access to the Microsoft Teams channel.
