Description

This program invites early career teachers to develop leadership skills both inside and outside the classroom.

Focusing on Leading in Action, the second year of AISWA's  Early Career Teacher program provides new educators the opportunity to take on new leadership roles in their schools. This type of program recognises that leadership in education goes beyond just classroom teaching and includes roles like mentoring, curriculum development, and school improvement initiative.

Module content will include, but is not limited to:

1. Quality feedback and reflective practice

2. Teaching and leading in action - AISWA school community

With 19 years of experience as a teacher and leader across diverse PK-12 educational settings, Meika is committed to promoting excellence in teaching and leadership. She highlights the importance of emotional intelligence and relational trust in building strong, respectful connections within school communities, recognizing these as essential for creating positive learning environments and inspiring growth. Passionate about leadership development, Meika works to empower confident, reflective leaders who drive collective success.

Maree Whiteley <span>(AISWA Staff)</span>

Maree Whiteley works with teachers and curriculum leaders to bring innovative and practical pedagogies into the classroom, through special projects and whole-school planning. Currently working as an AISWA Consultant in the Primary Teaching and Learning area, with specific expertise within the Humanities and Social Sciences Learning Area, this gives Maree the perfect platform to go beyond the curriculum, exploring areas of global imperatives for our young people, such as ethical and humanitarian issues, critical thinking and cultural competence. Maree continues to enjoy sharing her experience, knowledge and expertise with others in workshops, conferences and in online forums.

Nancy Pavisich

Nancy Pavisich

Dr Nancy Pavisich is a renowned consultant in leadership, management, and communication, dedicated to empowering individuals and organisations. She specialises in developing leaders and teams, drawing on extensive experience in Catholic, Government, and Independent schools. With a Ph.D. in Mentoring and multiple qualifications, Dr Nancy lectures at Edith Cowan University and tutors at the University of Notre Dame. She facilitates workshops for the Australian Institute of Management’s MBA program and is a published author. Dr Nancy’s work is grounded in evidence-based research and has earned her prestigious awards in educational leadership and consultancy.
