Description
The AISWA School Registration Seminar is a once a year event. The purpose of the Seminar is to provide a brief overview of current Renewal of Registration requirements and process as well as feedback on school experiences of the renewal exercise for the current year. Presenters will also provide information on proposed changes to the School Registration space for the upcoming year.
This is a whole day, fully catered event designed to help schools prepare for their renewal of registration in 2018 and/or to review their compliance with the requirements of the School Education Act and the Registration requirements.
The program will cover: Changes to school funding and government regulatory arrangements, school governance and accountability, the Standards and Other Requirements, the renewal process, feedback from schools having gone through process this year and any proposed changes we are aware of.
In addition to the AISWA presentations there will be two guest presentations. Mrs Susan Burton from the Working With Children Screening Unit will be discussing the screening capacity of the Unit and the part it’s functions play in a school’s efforts to be a child safe organisation and Mr Michael Jensen and Mr Ian Curlewis of Lavan will discuss ‘Mandatory Reporting and the maintenance of an Incident Register’ as well as ‘Privacy and Confidentiality, What’s the Difference?’
Time will be provided for questions throughout the day however schools with particular questions, for any of the presenters, are encouraged to submit their questions, in advance. Please send your questions to either Gary Robinson or Therese Bamford at AISWA.
Attendance at this event is recommended to members of school leadership and anyone who will be involved in preparing the school for renewal of registration in 2018. Given the level of attention paid to governance throughout the renewal process during 2017, attendance by governing body members is also recommended.
Schools not going through the registration process in 2018 who wish to stay in touch with ongoing compliance requirements are welcome to register attendees.
