Education Consultant - English

AISWA is seeking the services of a talented individual with a background in the English Learning Area, a sound understanding of the Curriculum Framework and the new WACE courses being implemented into Western Australia.

This is a part-time position at 0.4 FTE. Flexible working arrangements can be negotiated. The position would commence in January 2010 for a period of one school year.

Education Consultant - Numeracy

AISWA is seeking the services of a talented individual with a solid understanding of good numeracy teaching practices and strategies, the Curriculum Framework, NAPLAN assessments and experience in an education setting in Western Australia.

It is expected that the successful applicant would have classroom experience delivering and assessing numeracy in the primary and lower secondary years of schooling. Education Consultants typically have a wealth of expertise in their area of teaching and learning and develop a large range of contacts and networks. They are expected to source, organise and deliver professional development to schools to address a range of educational issues associated with the implementation of numeracy in schools.

As a part of supporting schools, Education Consultants represent AISWA on a number of curriculum and cross-sector committees. In addition, they undertake collaborations and joint-ventures on a range of projects with universities, other educational sectors and training organisations. The ability, to easily form positive working relationships with groups across different backgrounds is essential.

The Consultant should also possess a well-developed understanding of WALNA and NAPLAN data interpretation as this will be a major element of the position, as well as a familiarity with other forms of data interpretation.

Although not essential, a good understanding of First Steps materials would be advantageous.
