Description

*The cost for this program is $1,000/school*

Every child deserves the right to be supported to grow in a safe and healthy environment.  Wellbeing is at the heart of positive learning outcomes and the development of responsible and engaged citizens (Runions & Cross, 2022). Schools have a crucial role in developing children’s mental health, by establishing a wellbeing culture, targeted responses, and well-equipped educators (National Mental Health Commission, 2021).

The most effective approach to mental health prevention and promotion is one that involves the whole school community (Be You, 2022). This project aims to empower schools to develop their mental health skills and knowledge, whilst being supported to implement a whole school approach to wellbeing. A common language and shared understanding of mental health will be developed alongside an understanding of what educators can do to improve their own wellbeing. An understanding of the impacts of mental health on behaviour will be discussed and a range of evidence-informed tools and resources will be utilised to improve the skills and knowledge of educators, building upon their strengths to nurture and support children and young people.

At least 2 staff members from each school are required to participate in this project, one of which must have a leadership role in the school. It is expected that teachers registering for this project will attend all workshops and school-based meetings and be fully committed to the aims and learning outcomes of this project. To create meaningful, long-lasting change, it’s important that the whole learning community is engaged and involved.
