Teaching Position - Term 1 2019 Start

Fairbridge College is a small independent CARE school located on the grounds of Fairbridge Village in Pinjarra.   We specialise in working with students in years 7-12 (ages 12-18) who are either disengaged, or at risk of disengaging from school.  The College provides appropriate educational pathways through intensive holistic support and a flexible learning environment.Fairbridge College is a unique educational establishment embedded within the distinctive Fairbridge Village setting which provides safety, security and space for students whilst giving opportunities for a very practical curriculum matched to the individual needs of the students.  The staff work closely together, and with the wider Fairbridge community, to both support the students, and each other in what is a demanding educational environment. Fairbridge College is committed to creating pathways for students as they progress through the College and beyond.We are currently looking for an experienced teacher to join our team.  The successful candidate will have:

  • Proven experience teaching young people who are either disengaged or Youth at Risk of disengaging from school.
  • The ability to be very flexible in the management and/or delivery of support to students.
  • The ability to present topical and understandable lessons to our particular cohort.  In particular:
    • Keeping Safe curriculum (Protective Behaviours)
    • Drug and alcohol education
    • Sex education
    • Art expression
    • Health and Wellbeing
    • Employment skills
  • Experience working in or an understanding of the VET system is desirable
  • Must be registered or eligible to be registered with TRBWA, with a Cert IV TAE highly desirable.
