Unique in our approach, Telethon Speech & Hearing provides a range of diagnostic, therapeutic and education services to assist children to speak, hear, learn and play. About the RoleWe are currently seeking a nurturing and inclusive early childhood qualified Teacher to work in our Talkabout Program on a part time basis.Our Talkabout Program is a specialised early intervention program for children with speech and language delays that provides a language-rich environment and approach to supporting children and their families. This is a unique teaching role working in a playgroup environment for 3 years olds with a speech and language delay, where their parents/caregivers are present.  A multi-disciplinary team (including psychologists, speech pathologists, audiologists, occupational therapists and education assistants) supports the Teacher in the delivery of the planned programs. This is a temporary part time position for Terms 3 and 4 with the possibility to extend. The successful candidate will be employed as a 0.2 FTE working with our playgroups scheduled on either a Wednesday afternoon, Thursday morning or Friday morning (depending on family need and availability). About YouTo be successful in this role you will have the following:

  • Relevant early childhood qualifications (essential) and extensive teaching experience  - preferably in an early childhood setting where parents /caregivers participate
  • Experience working with children with a speech and language delay and/or other special needs is highly desirable
  • The ability to create an inclusive and caring classroom environment that recognises every person’s unique talents and fosters positive outcomes
  • Extensive knowledge of all aspects of early childhood development.
  • A current registration license with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB).
  • Experience dealing with confidential student and / or business records / information.
  • Strong communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills to enable professional interaction with a range of people including parents, visitors, management and other TSH staff.
  • The ability to provide parents with sensitive information in a supportive manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in partnership with families.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a multi disciplinary team, with or without supervision.
  • A current Working with Children Check and Police Clearance
