Part-time Teacher to commence February 2017Treetops Montessori and IB School is an independent school catering from Playgroup to 18 year old High School students. The school is situated in the bush setting of Darlington in the Perth Hills.We are seeking a highly motivated individual to teach High School Science (including Senior Biology), with an option to teach Humanities or Maths, within the High School. We are looking for a Teacher who is willing to embrace the ethos of the school, especially respect for the individual, whilst delivering an innovative and academically challenging education. We run a small secondary program so this position may suit a candidate a graduate, teacher returning to work or a teacher in job share with another school.As a small school, this position may be flexible in time fraction (0.6 to 0.8 FTE), and the teaching load may be flexed according to the skills of the successful applicant. The role is currently taught by a 0.6 teacher who has a straight Science load. The School runs the International Baccalaureate diploma in years 11 and 12 – and the successful candidate will have responsibility for delivering the IBDP Curriculum to Biology and Chemistry IBDP students.Key ObjectivesTo carry out the professional duties of a teacher as circumstances may require and in accordance with the school's policies under the direction of the Principal. A teacher is an informed, reflective professional who uses inquiry-based strategies to create positive learning environments, which motivate and challenge all learners in their class to become self-regulated, life-long learners and leaders. Essential Criteria for Candidate

  • Ability to engage and motivate students
  • Excellent Communication skills
  • Knowledge of the Australian (and/or Western Australian) Curriculum and International Baccalaureate Curriculum, together with a contemporary approach to teaching, learning and assessment.
  • Experience in child-centered education and inquiry-based learning.
  • Willingness to embrace the ethos of the school, especially respect for the individual, while delivering an innovative and academically challenging education.
  • Bachelor of Education qualification (Specialisation in Science – Biology and/or Chemistry); or a Bachelor of Science or Maths together with a Diploma of Education in Secondary Teaching.
  • Current TRBWA registration (or ability to gain registration prior to commencement of employment).

Desirable Criteria for Candidate

  • Ability and experience at MYP or Diploma level in International Baccalaureate Science and/or Mathematics.
  • Experience in multi age grouping.
  • Ability to create and manage a differentiated curriculum.
  • Open to learning new skills and techniques.
