Learning Support Teacher
Port Kennedy- Part-Time (0.4 FTE)

Alta-1 College provides an alternative education for young people between the ages of 12-18 years. The college enables young people who have been unsuccessful in mainstream schooling to complete secondary education. Alta-1 has a well-developed Christian education philosophy linked to a therapeutic recovery model.

Your role and responsibilities:
• Promote an environment of dynamic, active and genuine learning.
• Care for a group in a way that reflects the school’s values.
• Employ a variety of effective teaching strategies to successfully implement the curriculum linked to recovery education.
• Be sensitive to students experiencing personal, social or organisational problems.
• Differentiate the teaching of the curriculum to ensure that the needs of all individuals in their classes are met.
• Work positively and collaboratively as part of a highly collegial team.
• Oversight of academic benchmark testing of individual students upon enrolment in the college.
• Provide assistance to campus teachers in developing Documented Plans for individual students.
• Provide targeted learning support of individual students.
• Collection, compilation and submission of student data for Inclusive Education and NCCD funding purposes.

Essential requirements to be considered for the role
• To be a practising Christian, enthusiastic and passionate about helping young people, with the capacity to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• To have a current Working with Children Check, TRBWA registration and a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check.
