The school is situated in the bush setting of Darlington in the Perth Hills. The Montessori method has longevity world-wide and integrates effectively with the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme offered at Treetops.The roleTreetops Montessori and International Baccalaureate School is looking for an experienced teacher to teach Secondary Science, from years 7 to 12. This role is part-time(0.6FTE) maternity cover for one school term only.The successful candidate will be hardworking and detail-oriented with excellent knowledge of the subject material and a sound understanding of the Western Australian school curriculum. An understanding of the IBDP Curriculum is also desirable. They will have a keen interest in encouraging and inspiring students to love learning and excel in science!Key ObjectivesTo carry out the professional duties of a teacher as circumstances may require and in accordance with the school's policies under the direction of the Principal. A teacher is an informed, reflective professional who uses inquiry-based strategies to create positive learning environments, which motivate and challenge all learners in their class to become self-regulated, life-long learners and leaders.Essential Criteria for Candidate
- Ability to engage and motivate students
- Excellent Communication skills
- Knowledge of the Australian (and/or Western Australian) Curriculum and/or International Baccalaureate Curriculum, together with a contemporary approach to teaching, learning and assessment.
- Willingness to embrace the ethos of the school, especially respect for the individual, while delivering an innovative and academically challenging education.
- Bachelor of Education (Secondary) qualification (Specialisation in Science – Biology and/or Chemistry); or a Bachelor of Science (Biology and/or Chemistry ) together with a Diploma of Education in Secondary Teaching
- Current TRBWA registration (or ability to gain registration prior to commencement of employment).
Desirable Criteria for Candidate
- Ability and experience at MYP or Diploma level in International Baccalaureate Chemistry and /or Biology.
- Experience in multi age grouping.
- Open to learning new skills and techniques.
- Ability to work collaboratively and energetically within a highly differentiated student centred school culture
