The applicant will be hardworking and detail oriented with excellent knowledge of the subject material and a sound understanding of the Western Australian school curriculum.The roleWe are seeking a teacher who is committed to strengthening a learning environment geared toward fostering a culture of deep learning and excellence in teaching. The successful candidate will demonstrate extensive knowledge of teaching strategies to achieve effective learning outcomes.The School runs the International Baccalaureate diploma in years 11 and 12 – and the successful candidate will have responsibility for delivering the IBDP Curriculum to Biology and Chemistry IBDP students.The position will involve teaching students in Years 7 to 12 and assisting in extra-curricular activities. The applicant will be a motivated individual with a keen interest in encouraging and inspiring students to love learning and excel in science!Key ObjectivesTo carry out the professional duties of a teacher as circumstances may require and in accordance with the school's policies under the direction of the Principal. A teacher is an informed, reflective professional who uses inquiry-based strategies to create positive learning environments, which motivate and challenge all learners in their class to become self-regulated, life-long learners and leaders.Essential Criteria for Candidate
- Ability to engage and motivate students
- Excellent Communication skills
- Knowledge of the Australian (and/or Western Australian) Curriculum and International Baccalaureate Curriculum, together with a contemporary approach to teaching, learning and assessment.
- Experience in child-centered education and inquiry-based learning.
- Willingness to embrace the ethos of the school, especially respect for the individual, while delivering an innovative and academically challenging education.
- Bachelor of Education (Secondary) qualification (Specialisation in Science – Biology and/or Chemistry); or a Bachelor of Science or Humanities together with a Diploma of Education in Secondary Teaching (Masters preferred)
- Current TRBWA registration (or ability to gain registration prior to commencement of employment).
Desirable Criteria for Candidate
- Ability and experience at MYP or Diploma level in International Baccalaureate Science and HASS.
- Experience in multi age grouping.
- Ability to create and manage a differentiated curriculum.
- Open to learning new skills and techniques.
- Ability to work collaboratively and energetically within a highly differentiated student centred school culture
- Terms of employment are according to the Educational Services (Teachers) Award 2010. The salary for this position would be in the range $ 61,615 to $92,422, and is dependent upon the level of experience and qualification of the individual appointed.
