Description

National Certification of Highly Accomplished and Lead Teachers has three primary purposes:  Recognise and promote quality teaching  Provide an opportunity for teachers to reflect on their practice  Provide a reliable indication of quality teaching that can be used to identify and recognise Highly Accomplished and Lead Teachers. AISWA is the certifying authority for teachers from Independent schools in Western Australia and provides information sessions; workshops on developing and annotating submissions of evidence; and advice on preparing for site visits.

“Taking on the challenge of completing the National Certification for Highly Accomplished Teacher has been a thoroughly rewarding process. As I worked through the standards and all the descriptors, I found that I became more aware of how I was functioning as a teacher. It truly was not only the best, but by far the most in depth, reflective practice I have ever completed. Having colleagues watch me teach was also highly rewarding. We are all so busy and often don't have the time or the opportunity to really talk in depth about what or how we are teaching certain content. I thoroughly enjoyed making the time to do this with my mentor teachers. It has given me real pride in knowing that I am working competently in the best interests of my students, my school community and of course my own practise.” Jane Upson 2014
