Description

Literacy Bites are a series of workshops focused on Literacy and hosted by experts in the field. Each session will focus on a different aspect of literacy targeted at K-6 education. Workshops are stand alone, you can attend all or one of the workshop series. 

This session, presented by Occupational Therapist, Simon Campbell, will discuss a brief overview of handwriting and practical activities ideas to support fine motor development in early childhood education.

Outcomes

  • Provide content and teaching strategies to support the development and implementation of Literacy programs.
  • Provide examples of innovative practice and methodology that can be incorporated into Literacy programs to deliver quality teaching and learning.
  • Share expertise of external presenters to expand participants' repertoire of content, knowledge and strategies for teaching Literacy to improve programs and student learning.

Simone Campbell

Simon Campbell is an Occupational Therapist, Education Support Teacher, and Disability Consultant with over a decade of expertise in inclusive education, education support, and leadership across Department and Non-Government Schools. He works in supporting schools and teaching staff to enhance inclusion for students with disabilities, providing disability-specific strategies and tailored approaches for diverse learning needs.

With a background in both education support and private occupational therapy practice, Simon brings a holistic yet practical perspective to his work. He has wide-ranging experience working across education support and mainstream settings, supporting students with varying levels of need. Working with schools and individuals on neurodiversity, classroom adjustments, assistive technology, and inclusive teaching strategies. His deep understanding of disability, combined with a pragmatic approach, helps schools, teacher and education assistants implement effective and sustainable practices for working with students with special educational needs.
