Description
Minecraft: Education Edition is the same Minecraft experience many students enjoy and play already, but with some additional capabilities to enable student collaboration in the classroom, and support educators to deliver lessons and learning activities within the game. This workshop will help teachers to explore how Minecraft: Education Edition can improve student engagement, collaboration, and creative exploration to achieve tangible learning outcomes.
At the end of this workshop, teachers will be able to:
- Explore a tutorial world to learn the basics of exploring Minecraft
- Use biomes to launch learning experiences specific to learning about the climate
- Download and use worlds for specific learning activities or as starter hubs for learning with Minecraft
- Access and adapt lessons created for use with Minecraft: Education Edition
- Connect with experienced Minecraft Educators to get support
- Join an online community to support teaching and learning with Minecraft
It is recommended that you bring a mouse, and a Windows 10 or Mac laptop with Minecraft Education Edition installed. You can download Minecraft: Education Edition at http://education.minecraft.net/get-started/download
A number of Windows 10 devices will be available for use on the day but the learning experience will be better if you bring your own device.

A former teacher, Steven now works with Microsoft ANZ, supporting staff at schools and universities in WA to make the most out of Microsoft 365 technologies. His work with schools includes training and consultancy on: Microsoft 365, coding, physical computing, mixed reality, and artificial intelligence (AI) - all the things that help bring digital technologies into the classroom to enhance learning and improve efficiency across all curriculum areas.
