This workshop is designed to explore best practice pedagogy.
Through the application of Visible Thinking strategies we will demonstrate ways to scaffold learning in order to deepen inferential and evaluative comprehension and improve the ability to synthesise texts.
You will gain:
- Practical evidence-based activities to teach deeper thinking based on the 4 main comprehension strategies
- How to co-design learning intentions and successful criteria for self and peer-assessment
- A collection of resources to use in the classroom
- High quality picture books to take home
Comprehension Day One
Session Goal: Apply best practice pedagogy on how to teach comprehension strategies with a focus on making inferences and generating questions.
Comprehension Day Two
Session Goals: Demonstrate how to scaffold student comprehension in order to synthesise and evaluate texts. Plan for intentional teaching and link to the Australian Curriculum.
