Kate Mullin Educator Award Flyer
The Kate Mullin Award has been created in memory of Kate Mullin, a passionate and visionary EALD consultant who made significant improvements in the teaching of Indigenous literacy in Western Australia. This award aims to recognise and celebrate educators who demonstrate excellence in the teaching of English to Aboriginal students, whose first language may be Aboriginal English, an Aboriginal Language or a creole such as the Kimberley Kriol. The educator can self-nominate or be nominated by a line-manager, colleague, student or community member. For more information, please click Here
The Power of Story Sundowner
You are invited to join AISWA and Reading Australia for a Power of Story Sundowner on October 27th at the Tradewinds Fremantle.
Reading Australia develop units of work designed to help teachers navigate Australian texts within the framework of the Australian Curriculum. They include curriculum codes, sample classroom and assessment activities and links to other relevant online resources to assist with teaching and engaging students across a suggested time frame. Reading Australia champions Australia’s rich literary history and presents thoughtful, stimulating, challenging and sometimes provocative literary works. These reflect the stories we tell as a nation and connect teachers with diverse and robust voices. Reading Australia will showcase their resources that will turbo charge children and young people into engaged and powerful readers. Please see attached flier for more info. Creative Learning Partnerships Grants Now Open
Fostering creativity in schools is the focus of a new $8 million program funded by the McGowan Government. Delivering on a 2021 State Election commitment, the Creative Learning Program comprises two key initiatives - Creative Learning Partnerships and Creativity for Schools. The focus of these grants will be on enriched learning by embedding creativity across the curriculum, and beyond. Creative Learning Partnerships will offer grants of up to $500,000 for two-year programs engaging students (Years 2-9) and educators across Western Australia. The Creativity for Schools program will support creative artists and organisations to engage with schools via collaborations (up to $60,000 in funding) and in-school residencies (up to $20,000 in funding).
