Kate Mullin Award
The Kate Mullin Award has been created in memory of Kate Mullin. The Award aims to recognise and celebrate educators who demonstrate excellence in the teaching of English to Aboriginal students whose first language may be Aboriginal English, an Aboriginal Language or a creole such as the Kimberley Kriol. Educators can self-nominate or be nominated by a line-manager, colleague, student or community member. The Nomination Form and Referee Statement can be downloaded from Here
Australian Research Council Linkage Project
Improving teacher assessment capability using scaled annotated exemplars of achievement standards in online moderation (English, Science and Maths Years 4, 6, and 8)
AISWA teachers are invited to participate in the above research project which aims to develop an online platform of student exemplars with related annotations.
Teacher participation will offer a unique professional learning opportunity to enhance understanding of A-E judgements. Teachers will also benefit from the opportunity to develop their skills in constructing commentaries of their judgement decisions. Upon completion, a statement outlining the activities and number of hours of participation in the project will be provided.

2020 Leavers - Event For Parents
The Leavers WA event in the South West will go ahead as planned from Monday 23 November to Thursday 26 November. School Drug Education and Road Awareness (SDERA) and WA Police are
co-hosting a Leavers Brunch - parent information session on Sunday 20 September at The Rise at 28 Eighth Avenue in Maylands.
Please encourage your Year 12 parents to either attend the session from 9.45am or if they can't make it to this event in person, they can register to watch the live-stream via YouTube.
To help promote the Leavers' Brunch to your parents and community, you can download free resources for your website, newsletter or social media from SDERA.

The Talented Young Writers program has been relaunched as Young Writers Online and Young Writers Collective (in person sessions). The Australian Storytellers Festival has been rescheduled for Sunday 15 November.
Raising Trailblazers: Reimagining the Middle Years.
Interested in participating in an innovative and supported action learning project that addresses an area of focus on wellbeing and student engagement in the middle years (7-10), within the context of your school?
AISWA, Notre Dame University and Griffith University have partnered to offer Raising Trailblazers: Reimagining the Middle Years.
