Kate Mullin Educator Award Flyer

The Kate Mullin Award has been created in memory of Kate Mullin, a passionate and visionary EALD consultant who made significant improvements in the teaching of Indigenous literacy in Western Australia.  This award aims to recognise and celebrate educators who demonstrate excellence in the teaching of English to Aboriginal students, whose first language may be Aboriginal English, an Aboriginal Language or a creole such as the Kimberley Kriol.  The educator can self-nominate or be nominated by a line-manager, colleague, student or community member. Services Australia support for year 12 students

Students can get support from Services Australia after secondary school. Youth Allowance for students and apprentices and ABSTUDY are the main payments students may get. There are other payments for students who need to move away from a regional or remote area. Find out more about financial support at servicesaustralia.gov.au/leavingschool.

Schools can help school leavers prepare for 2023 with the updated School Leavers resource eKit. It contains many different resources that explain Centrelink payments and how to get started with myGov. Download the eKit at by clicking Here 

National Schools' Constitutional Convention 2023 Expression of Interest (EOI)

The Constitutional Centre of Western Australia is now seeking Expressions of Interest for the National Schools Constitutional Convention 2023. To be eligible, students must be enrolled in Year 10 or Year 11 in Western Australia, during 2022. Applications from schools in the metropolitan, regional and remote areas around Western Australia are encouraged.
Please see attached  NSCC 2023 Expression of Interest (EOI) form 1.pdf the Expression of Interest form for the National Schools’ Constitutional Convention 2023. This also provides other important details.
Application forms must be emailed to the Constitutional Centre, via cceducation@dpc.wa.gov.au, by Wednesday 12  October, 2022. Submissions received after this date cannot be included in the selection process. 

The Power of Story Sundowner

You are invited to join AISWA and Reading Australia for a Power of Story Sundowner on October 27th at the Tradewinds Fremantle.
Reading Australia develop units of work designed to help teachers navigate Australian texts within the framework of the Australian Curriculum. They include curriculum codes, sample classroom and assessment activities and links to other relevant online resources to assist with teaching and engaging students across a suggested time frame. Reading Australia champions Australia’s rich literary history and presents thoughtful, stimulating, challenging and sometimes provocative literary works. These reflect the stories we tell as a nation and connect teachers with diverse and robust voices. Reading Australia will showcase their resources that will turbo charge children and young people into engaged and powerful readers. Please see attached flier for more info.
