WA Police
The Cyber Predator Team forms part of the Child Protection Squad, identifying and prosecuting online child sex offenders. Police officers go online posing as children to identify people using the Internet for exploiting our children.
Child sex offenders contact children using Internet chat sites and other sites of interest to children. Child sex offenders use the Internet to befriend children and gain their confidence without having to physically confront them. They also use the Internet to exchange child pornographic images, which has led to an increase in the incidents of children being sexually abused in order to fuel the need for new material.
You can report suspicious online behaviour that you think involves the sexual grooming, abuse or exploitation of children to the Cyber Predator Team. Their details can accessed on the WA Police website www.police.wa.gov.au in the 'Your Safety' section.
